Course of Study
Students can commence the seven semester degree program either in the summer or winter semester. The program includes an eight-week basic professional internship. Regulations for the pre-study internship for students of the department of Environmental Planning and Technology are available at the Registrar's Office. Please contact the course representative about the nature of the internship in advance, as the course representative decides whether or not to recognise an internship as a fulfilled admission requirement. Subject-related vocational training courses may be accepted.
The degree program consists of different modules, which are interlinked. Fundamental knowledge and skills in IT, as well as applied sciences are foci of the curriculum. Practical projects and elective modules become more widely available during the course of study.
The modular structure allows students to change their degree programme during the course of study. A number of modules are also compulsory for a degree in media computer science, which facilitates a change between the two programmes.
Exchange semesters are encouraged. Students who decide to study at a university abroad generally do so during the fifth semester. The prerequisite is an equivalent curriculum at the partner university.
The seventh semester is reserved for projects, elective subjects and the Bachelor thesis. The aim of the final exam is to demonstrate that the student is capable of independently working through a specific topic by applying scientific methods in a nine-week period.
