Bioprocess, Environmental and Process Engineering

Standard Duration: 6 or 7 semesters

Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)

Postgraduate Courses:

This Bachelor's Degree provides graduates with an excellent foundation to obtain further qualifications through Postgraduate Studies. At the Environmental Campus graduates can apply to one of the following Master's Degree Programmes:

Degree Structure

The Bachelor's programme is based on a modular concept. Interdisciplinary modules (e.g. languages, economics, law, mathematics) are offered alongside eighteen modules on process engineering. Students will enrol in eleven of these, depending on their degree focus. One of these modules can be composed ofn individual lectures from elective modules. This allows the student to cater their dagree to their own individual interests and knowledge.

This modular structure enables students to change their degree course even once they have commenced their studies. Some of the modules in the first three semesters are part of the curriculum of other Bachelor's degree programmes in the faculty. This also facilitates a degree change later on.

Exchange semesters are encouraged. Students who decide to study at a university abroad, generally do so during the fifth semester. The prerequisite for this is an equivalent curriculum at the partner university.

The sixth semester is reserved for a practical project and the Bachelor's thesis. The period of practical lasts twelve weeks. The aim of the final dissertation is to demonstrate that the student is capable of working independently through a subject-related topic by applying scientific methods within a nine-week time frame.
