Course of Study

This degree programme requires full-time dedication.

The standard duration is 2 years (4 semester). Every semester students complete modules, worth 30 ECTS-points and adding up to about 900 hours. Overall students have to earn 120 ECTS-points to qualify for graduation.

The degree structure is based on the curriculum. The semster schedule enables all students to attend mandatory lectures and seminars. Most modules can be taken in any order during the course of study. Modules that are consecutive to other modules have to be taken at certain times. Please consult the course representative for advice on module deadlines.

Modules in the first two semster primarily cover fundamentals in the natural sciences and energy technologies.

In the third semester students obtain sound knowledge of the most recent developments in technology and research. they can choose one of 2 specialisations. These are complemented by independent, in-depth project assignments, which are designed to foster scientific work methods and scientific evaluation skills.

A broad range of elective modules enables students to emphasise certain areas of study such as energy technologies, environmental technologies or economics and law.

The fourth semester is reserved for the Master thesis. With this final dissertation students demonstrate their ability to independently resolve a subject-related problem by applying scientific research methods within a given time frame. Students have 6 months to complete their thesis.
